Surrender Flags and Crying Handkerchiefs (2014-2018)
The woods are repurposed or salvaged from hurricanes Hugo and María.
The ripped flags are meant to be crying handkerchiefs. The flagstaffs are based on twitter wings. Like SOS signals to the world.
The series is in collaboration with master sculptor and educator Luis Manuel Rodríguez from 2014-2018. We made 15 flags. One flag (Fall Leaves. Leave.) was reworked in 2024.
